Chalke Valley History Festival

The Chalke Valley History Festival includes over 110  literary events for all ages from children through to adults, a vast look through history through-the ages encampment, a stunning air show is one of the biggest events of the week, the Penguin Chalke Valley History Prize, and a Schools Festival all over the course of a 3 day period. This was CVHF's fifth year of holding the history festival and a huge success it was too! It is the largest festival dedicated entirely to british history, and is designed to inspire, excite and inform all ages. Taking place in the heart of the beautiful Wiltshire countryside, 12 miles outside of Salisbury, it offers a unique mix of talks, discussions and debates, alongside the very best Living History activities around. Whether young or old, the CVHF provides entertainment for all the family.

When visiting the CVHF you are immediately thrown back into history with force, enlightened with new facts and reenactments everywhere you turn. 2015 saw a  new living history arena for longbow demonstrations, French firepower displays, WW2 firing demonstrations, cavalry displays and much more for the mind! The visual aspects of being involved enhanced the whole experience and lifted history from the pages of books; putting the sights and sounds before your very own eyes.

As a photography business we thrive upon capturing that one moment that can't ever be seen again, in this case, our favourite photo of CVHF is of the battle between the red coats and the colonials shown in the arena; where we managed to capture a photo in a split second of a Colonial soldier firing his weapon at the Red Coat opposition. This photo grabbed our immediate attention as it was a true and tough challenge to shoot. We wanted to capture the image just as the gunpowder ignited, giving the flame kickback, there was a split second to capture this one shot and we managed it!
